 Intuitive Parenting

(Lynn Walker for Voice of the Village, April 2010 Edition)

What is intuitive parenting? It is simply a process by which you allow that still, small voice to come through and speak to you about your child. It is not hearing from a place of emotion or a place of intellect; instead it is hearing from a connection to something bigger – call it spirit, God, Source or whatever works for you. When you are connected to this larger web and you are tuned into the frequency of your child, you have access to information that is precise and timely for that child at that moment. All of you as parents have experienced times with your children when you just knew something and no one could tell you differently. That is intuitive parenting and in this day and age, it is vital that you expand your skill level.

Children are incredible communicators despite the fact that they may not posses the verbal skills with which to articulate their thoughts. Additionally, children are incredibly sensitive and empathic in ways that most adults have lost. In general, children have abilities that we adults have outgrown as we have learned to operate in a world based in fear and ego.

Science and quantum physics has determined that all humans are basically energy. Although we are chemical and biological, we are primarily energy that is vibrating at certain frequencies throughout the day. We have found that in addition to our physical body, we also possess an emotional body, a mental body and a spiritual body which surround the physical body; because these additional bodies vibrate at such a high frequency, they are not as dense as the physical body and to many people they appear to be invisible.

As an intuitive and an energy worker, I am able to see and read all these different bodies. Much like tuning into a radio station, I am able to tune into the frequency of these different bodies and receive information. Consequently, I can access information that your child is communicating on a non-verbal level. In some cases, a child's emotional, mental and/or spiritual body will show areas that are in distress before the physical body has manifested this distress as an illness. In other cases, a child may already have an illness or diagnosis, but by working with their energy many of their symptoms can be addressed and minimized because the body as a whole is being fully supported.

My long term goal is to teach parents how to do this yourself so that you are always able to fully “dialogue” with your child. You already have the basic skill set; however, you need some guidance in how to get out of your head and emotions so that the true information can come through in a clear and precise manner. When I work with children, I always involve the family so that everyone can begin communicating in a new, fun way that allows all the pieces of the puzzle to be seen.

The following is written by Gerald O'Donnell and speaks to why medicating children is a difficult choice to make:

The irony and great tragedy of the ADD situation is that Western societies which embrace such ridiculous notions  might, by sheer ignorance of the real mechanisms of the Mind, be disturbing  or even permanently harming  the most potentially creative individuals that they harbor.  The ones that can think in a nonlinear fashion. The ones that have a natural tendency to focus within themselves in order to find creative inspiration, and intuition. These future visionaries that were meant to be operative in the next century in order to steer us into more evolved behaviors and creative endeavors, in the arts, fundamental sciences; health, geopolitical, financial, spiritual, and ecological crisis management, may very well have been chemically poisoned and maybe permanently impaired by mankind's inflated ego, ignorance, and the orgy of greed and egoistic tendencies that we are experiencing.  This might very well cause the permanent decline of these forms of human societies

MIND POWER & HEALING

Lynn Walker for Blog

RSD - Going Down Swinging  http://prefontaine44.blogspot.com

One issue that I must clear up immediately is the idea that if you accept responsibility for your disease or the creation of the disease, you are not required to beat yourself up about this. No one creates a disease within their bodies from a conscious perspective! When we talk about attracting the disease, we mean that somewhere in your mental, emotional, spiritual or physical bodies, you have done this unknowingly. Therefore, when you decide to heal and look at where the disease came from, you do this process gently. Most importantly, this is a process...it is not only a destination, although that is clearly important. The self-knowledge that you gain during this process allows you to reclaim your own power and prevent future disease as well.

Another part of this equation is that you do not journey towards healing all alone. You do this by identifying and defining a higher power for yourself. This is key! You must seek a connection with a power that is greater than yourself and your disease. By doing this, you will open yourself up to a realm of answers that can come from the Universal supply. When it comes to my health, I want the big guns giving me help!

I also find that many people resist doing this work because they are so filled with information from our Western perspective of fear, ego and money. As we grow up in this world where there is so much opinion disguised as information, we cannot help but become immobilized by this massive onslaught. How in the world do we sort through all of this ourselves? We try to find experts and listen to them.

Unfortunately, in the Western world of medicine, there are few options. We are given powerful drugs that overwhelm and debilitate us with side-effects; to combat the side-effects, we are given some other medication that brings along its own set of side-effects! Soon, we realize we are on so many medications when we only need the one to actually treat the disease!

If it is not about drugs, then it is about surgery or some other invasive procedure. At no time are we ever really assured that we can heal! We are promised that our symptoms can be managed and that although there is no cure, we can be made comfortable...but we are never told we can be healed. In time, we just lose the hope that healing can ever happen for us because the experts are not giving us that option. There are studies from third world countries where people who are diagnosed with cancer have a much lower death rate; not because they have some incredible ritual of healing, but because they do not KNOW that cancer is supposed to be fatal!

Finally, many people that I work with have become familiar with their disease and identify with the disease as if it is a badge of courage to be worn proudly. When psychology and therapy became mainstays of the free world, people began to wear and speak about their problems as if they were the only ones who could lay claim to their pain. Additionally, others were held hostage by those of us who had been damaged so severely from our past. We expected or demanded that we be treated a certain way because don't you understand what we have endured? Healing threatens this counterfeit world that we have created and become accustomed to.

I have frequently offered my services to organizations who advocate for those of us suffering from chronic pain or other disorders. I cannot tell you how many times I have been told that my services are not needed nor wanted! This absolutely floors me when I think of all the invasive, painful procedures that will be endured over time in an effort to alleviate symptoms but not cure the disease. I offer a way to actually HEAL without physical trauma or side-effects. More importantly, the work that I do will last someone a lifetime and probably prevent future problems as well! Even if you do not heal, but you learn something amazing about yourself in the process and ward off some future problem, wouldn't that be worth the time and effort? What have you got to lose?

For those who believe that the mind is just not able to do this, I beg to differ. Science has recognized that we are all energy and empty space...quite a lot of empty space but what is not empty is energy that is vibrating at certain frequencies. In addition, intent has been measured by scientists in experiment after experiment where there is proof that energy follows intent! Plants will actually react just to someone's intention of harming the plant before any physical act happens! This response can actually be measured! Now if a plant which clearly does not have a visible mind can react to intention, can you imagine what a person with a mind can do?

There have also been studies which prove that people who have multiple personalities can manifest diabetes or kidney disease in one personality, but not in the others! In the other personalities, there is no physical sign of the disease! Now, this has to be attributed to what is happening in the mind, given that this is the area which is controlling the personalities.

Our minds are the most powerful parts of our make-up and we simply do not know enough about the mind nor do we use our minds very effectively. I suffered for years with clinical depression and chronic anxiety and felt there was no hope. I was hospitalized, medicated and counseled to no avail. Finally, my body manifested this in physical and chronic pain issues of the auto-immune variety. It was only then that I called back my spirit and decided in a moment that I would no longer live this way. When I made this decision, I began my journey towards healing...and that has made all the difference.

You have nothing to lose by trying this path. Of course, the road you travel will be vastly different from the one that I traveled and that is how it should be. Each person comes to this lifetime with a unique spiritual journey. Isn't it about time you began yours?

The Power of Giving (Lynn Walker for Blog March 2010

 www.awakentospirit.blogspot.com

I am so thrilled as I write this because through helping someone else to heal, I have grown spiritually by leaps and bounds - all in about ONE week!  Through spiritual serendipty, I came across a blog about someone who is struggling with a chronic pain disease that I myself battled for years.  At the time, I was told in no uncertain terms that I was meant to reach out to this remarkable woman and help her on her spiritual journey of healing.  I didn't know why I was told to do this, but I have done this long enough, that I no longer question why anymore - I follow orders and just do what I am told!

So I did and I quickly found myself helping someone who is truly amazing, deeply strong and so filled with intuitive light that she shines on me and all those around her!

What I find incredible is that almost immediately after making this connection, I began to feel a bit strange.  I felt very tired, but at the same time, I was edgy and awake.  Again, I have been on this journey long enough, that I knew something or some shift was coming and it was coming in a BIG way!  Unfortunately, I am still somewhat impatient and as soons as I realized I was in for a growth spurt, I became very excited and could not wait to find out what it would be.  Sad to say, I had to wait a bit longer and become more tired and wiped out...

Today, a new truth was revealed!  As soon as my epiphany hit, I was able to jump forward spiritually, emotionally and mentally.  More importantly, I was also able to release years of emotional pain that I did not realize I was still carrying!  As I released this pain, I was instantly forgiving all the people who played a role in how this pain was created within my life.  AMAZING!  In one moment, I was enlightened and lightened of my burden!  (I will share the details of the epiphany later on as it is so fresh that I wish to honor it by just allowing it to merge within me.)\\

The point that cannot be lost here is that through my work with another human being and in helping HER to heal, I also was healed!  I have always believed that what I was so freely given (my own healing from chronic pain as well as a spiritual awakening) must be shared with others so that I may keep my gifts.

I hear from people all over the world who are in a tremendous amount of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual pain. The main theme that plays out over and over again for these people is how small their world becomes.  They are unable to focus on anything or anyone but the pain and how unfair it is.  Unfortunately, this kind of thinking is only going to attract more pain and more injustice since we do become what we think about.

My pearl of wisdom for today is this - If you are experiencing a  dark night of the soul, I urge you to step outside of yourself for just a moment and offer your heart and spirit to someone who is also suffering.  Give of yourself without any expectation of receiving anything in return...I guarantee you that you will not be the same person once you have done this.  Either you will experience something that you never imagined could happen to or for you, or your perspective will have shifted so dramatically that your dark night will no longer seem so dark or so long.

Blessings my friends and welcome to the journey.

Spiritual Healing by Lucy Costigan

Spiritual healing is the oldest type of healing known to humanity. There has always been some form of spiritual healing available in all tribes and societies: our own Druid tradition of healing and spirituality, the North American Medicine man, the wise men and women who occupied a special place in every tribe, helping to heal the sick through the power of the spirit, and to guide the tribe in times of crises, and in matters of life and death. Due to many people's disillusionment with traditional religions there has been a huge upsurge in interest in the whole area of spirituality in recent years.

Spirituality in its broadest sense concerns the exploration, the awareness and the integration of spirit with our other physical, mental and emotional sides to create balance, harmony, wholeness and meaning in our lives. Spirit is that part of ourselves which is eternal and unique to each individual. Yet spiritually we are connected to all other life forms in a transpersonal way, each being a vital part of the whole. People who wish to explore their personal spirituality need not have any specific beliefs, as the spiritual experience can be viewed humanistically - as the link between all earth-life, between the whole of nature, animals and human beings.

What is Spiritual healing?

Spiritual healing is the channelling of healing energies through the healer to the patient. It re-energies and relaxes patients to enable their own natural resources to deal with illness or injury in the best possible way. By directing energy, usually through the hands, the healer seeks to supplement the depleted energy of the recipient, releasing the body's own healing abilities to deal with the problem in the most effective way for that individual. The healer asks for healing to be channelled from Spirit, God, the highest level of light. Unlike faith healing, it is not required that the patient have faith in the healer or in the healing process in order for healing to take place.

Benefits of Spiritual healing

Spiritual healing can be beneficial for anyone who feels that they lack harmony of body, mind or spirit. It can be given for any illness, stress or injury. There are no conditions placed on the type of healing which the patient may require: the Spirit of the patient gets exactly the kind of healing it needs to distribute to the mind or body it occupies. Healing always takes place in the manner in which it is needed. It can be helpful in a wide range of physical and psychological conditions, sometimes to a remarkable degree: the medically diagnosed nature of the illness appears to be irrelevant to the outcome, and case histories range from the relieving of everyday stresses and strains to the recovery of people who had been previously medically diagnosed as being terminally ill. In all these cases spiritual healing seems to have made a vital contribution to the patient's recovery.

Spiritual healing has no side effects and is complimentary to any other therapy. It is completely non-intrusive as there is no touch used by the healer. The healer's hands are raised about a foot from the patient's body while the patient is sitting comfortably during the channelling of healing.

Absent Healing

Any person who asks for spiritual healing will receive it. If the healing is requested by one person for another, then the healing chain is set in motion between the person who requested it, the person who it is requested for and Spirit. The person does not have to attend for Spiritual healing in this instance. Each person's name who requires healing is written in a special book, kept specifically for this purpose. Periodically the healer can read each new name entered in the book and ask Spirit to grant this person spiritual healing. Each person is kept on the absent healing list for one month. Whatever healing is required then takes place. There have been many recorded cases of miraculous healing taking place using absent healing, even when the recipient of spiritual healing was not aware that healing had been requested for him/her.

What does Spiritual healing feel like for the recipient?

Many people say that they experience some of the following sensations during spiritual healing: heat, cold, tingly feelings, the feeling of being really taken care of, a feeling of expansion and a new awareness of their spiritual being. Sometimes the recipient doesn't feel anything in particular, just a sense of deep relaxation and peace. It is recommended that a person attend for spiritual healing at least three times, with approximately one week between each session, to maximise the benefits of spiritual healing. I can still vividly remember my own first experience of spiritual healing, some six years ago. One of my friends had recommended that I try it but I was quite sceptical and needed a lot of persuading to try it. I remember sitting in the healing chair in the Irish Spiritual Centre, feeling this amazing feeling of love and expansion, as though I was literally radiating a brilliant beautiful energy. Spiritual healing is still my own favourite form of healing when I feel in need of a real boost of energy: six years later I'm still at the centre, but now working as a Spiritual healer.

The following is from Maria Mooney's Blog (http://prefontaine44.blogspot.com) Going Down Swinging  (2010)

Maria is a client and friend...she articulates perfectly the work we have been doing together.  Enjoy, as she is an inspiration for me as well.

Over the past five years, my illness evolution has unfolded exactly the way it was meant to unfold, and I have thoroughly enjoyed the process, admittedly becoming impatient at times. My diagnosis of Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy/Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (RSD/CRPS) has been my greatest gift, my teacher, and my master, bringing me closer to my core self, others, and a higher power. I received the message loud and clear in the form of incessant, burning, widespread neurological pain, but I am on the road to health and healing with the help of a spiritual counselor, who can be likened to a therapist, psychic/intuitive, and best friend all wrapped into one. She guides me on my spiritual journey by accessing my spirit guides and creating an individualized plan just for me.

I am often asked how I “do it”—how do I achieve happiness with what should be a debilitating illness while pursuing a Master’s degree, nurturing fulfilling relationships, and believing I am healing from an “incurable disease?” It has taken five years of self-reflection—breaking down my old, limiting belief systems and replacing them with new, life-affirming principles—to get me where I am today. As a result, I want to share with you my “Ten Tips for Happiness.” I hope you enjoy them!

1. Be Grateful: Being grateful for the abundance in your life and focusing on the positives can raise your vibrational energy, which always aids in healing. ALWAYS being positive can create a shallowness in relationships with others and yourself. Instead, honor your feelings of sadness and frustration when they arise, and then remember to move on. You receive what you focus on, so focus on healing rather than pain, disease, frustration, etc.

2. Set Healthy Goals: Setting healthy goals can aid in feelings of self-confidence and self-worth when an illness threatens the very core of who you know yourself to be. You don’t have to be in a Master’s program to achieve a goal. Learn how to draw, speak a new language, write some poetry, etc. These goals are all just as, if not more, important and offer distractions, especially if you are in pain.

3. Change Your Mindset: Learn to view your illness or any setback as an opportunity for growth and personal development. See what society has taught us are negatives and view them as positives by finding the lessons. Fighting your illness suggests that it is separate from you and is your adversary; healing cannot take place when you are waging a war against your own body. Relax into the discomfort and find the lessons. They are there! TRUST ME!

4. Go Inward: In our materialistic, dualistic, ego-centered society, we are taught that if a problem arises, look OUTSIDE for the cause. Did someone’s negative attitude make me sick? Is my environment toxic? Is my food polluted? Are my genes flawed? We are so quick to attribute the cause of our suffering to some outside phenomenon, but in many cases, the cause and cure for our ills—personal and social—can be found inside of us. Start looking!

5. Be in Mindful Awe: With the hustle and bustle of today’s world, we tend to forget to stop and smell the proverbial and real roses. Take a moment to allow yourself to be in awe of the wonders of the world and that divine intelligence that helps those ordinary miracles unfold. Be mindful of the present moment, because the past is over and the future doesn’t exist. Accept where and who you are in this moment and enjoy the process of life.

6. Be a Child: Look at any small child before society has forced its belief systems upon him/her. The child, if from a loving family, does not have a care in the world and only lives for the pleasures of the present moment. The child does not need to control every single detail of his/her life, does not judge, desires to spread love, and always has FUN. You will not sacrifice your maturity by taking some notes from a child.

7. Let Go of Ego: You know ego—that little voice inside of you that judges (you and others), fears the unknown, is attached to the material world, and desires to control every little detail. The first step to overcoming your ego mind is to become aware of its presence, so listen closely as you go through your day. Once you recognize it, you are more likely to let it go. Replacing the negative chatter of the ego mind with positive, life-affirming thoughts will help raise your vibrational frequency and heal your body.

8. Listen to Intuition and Others: *Let me preface this by affirming my love for each and every one of you.* We don’t have all the answers. If we did, we would be healed already. Put your ego aside and listen to the teachings of those who are wise in their fields. If you tap into your intuition, which is the voice of God, you will know the right direction to go. Have faith that your intuition will guide you.

9. REST: Over its development, our society has decided that if you aren’t constantly achieving in the specific ways that society deems admirable, you aren’t a worthwhile human being. This is not true! Rebel! Decide to take care of yourself, to go outside of the box and REST. Find that balance between work and play; if you don’t, your body will force you to stop, whether or not you are prepared.

10. Read: I have found that reading self-help/spiritual/alternative medicine books has been a great supplement to my past and present therapeutic experiences. While you read, take what concepts appeal to you and integrate them into your belief system. I have read approximately thirty books outside of the texts necessary for my Master’s program in the last year, and they have been an integral piece of my healing. The same books that appeal to me may not appeal to you, so explore a little.
